Get ready for an exciting year as the Washington State Fair Event Center celebrates 125 years of creating extraordinary memories! Since 1900, we’ve welcomed guests to cultivate unforgettable experiences and lasting traditions.
As the largest single event in the state, the Washington State Fair began as a neighborhood celebration of the harvest season, and is now 175-acres of year-round bustle. Throughout the past several decades, the venue has become a destination for non-stop activity including five self-produced signature events and more than 125 other events.
We’re thrilled to blend elements of the past, present and future this year, at our events and with major facility renovations. As part of bringing back the nostalgia, we're excited to incorporate the beloved "Do the Puyallup" tagline into this year's celebrations, rekindling the iconic phrase and the memories it has created throughout the years.
What better way to celebrate our 125th Anniversary Year than with new rendition of our beloved jingle? This new recording features all of the classic instruments played in the original 1976 version, plus full drums, vocal harmonies and a vintage '70s Rhodes keyboard to create a full sound for the celebration that honors the original era of this beloved local favorite. The lyrics are all from the original song, written by Saxon Rawlings. Some verses many may never have heard before!
For many years the Washington State Fair operated under the Puyallup Fair title, and while the name may have changed as a way to honor the entirety of our great state of Washington, we remain the same fair that was founded in 1900. With this milestone celebration year we are thrilled to welcome the return of our jingle and beloved slogan as we celebrate 125 years of "Doin' the Puyallup". Cheers to the next 125 years! 🥂 The State's Biggest Party is having its biggest party ever... and it's not a celebration without you!
