Imagine the sway of bossa nova and the pulse of samba interwoven with raw rock energy, deep R&B soul, and alternative experimentation—that’s the sound of Wasabi Samba.
Founded in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood in 2021, the band features vocalist and guitarist Alvaro Molina, bassist Austin Cloy, drummer and backing vocalist Thomas Canetti, saxophonist Steven Paul, and keyboardist Thomas “Tito” Hansen.
Their debut EP, Ánimo, released in January 2025, showcases the group’s unique blend of influences, but it’s on stage where Wasabi Samba truly comes alive. Known for their electrifying live performances, the band has played some of Seattle’s most notable venues, including Neumos, Madame Lou’s, Nectar Lounge, and KEXP.
Wasabi Samba has also taken center stage at major regional festivals, including Capitol Hill Block Party (2024), Sh’Bang Festival in Bellingham (2024 and 2025), and two performances at the Northwest Folklife Festival in 2025.
Blending global rhythms with modern rock sensibilities, Wasabi Samba delivers a vibrant and unforgettable musical experience that is entirely their own.
