The Selassie Ites is a roots reggae band known for its original, dynamic, and progressive sound. Blending traditional reggae foundations with influences from hip-hop, rock, and blues, the group creates a style that can best be described as cutting-edge roots music with a powerful modern edge.

Renowned for thought-provoking lyrics, infectious rhythms, thumping bass lines, and soaring guitar leads, The Selassie Ites delivers music that is both uplifting and impactful. Their songs promote messages of environmental stewardship, equal rights, peace, love, and unity, reflecting the band’s mission to inspire positive change through music.

The band was founded in Puna on Hawaii’s Big Island by Abba T and Sista C, who serve as the group’s composers, lead vocalists, and keyboardists. Their deep appreciation for the people, culture, and spirit of Hawaii continues to influence much of their music.

After performing at numerous events and festivals throughout Hawaii from 2013 to 2020, The Selassie Ites relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where Sista C grew up. Now based in the Seattle area, the band continues to share its music with audiences across the West Coast through festivals, concerts, and community events.
