Mama Row's Caramel

People

For Jonathan Hudson, caramel isn’t just an ingredient—it’s a legacy. In 2023, he launched Mama Row’s Caramel to honor his late mother, a beloved school teacher whose warmth and hospitality were as memorable as her homemade desserts. From an early age, Hudson and his mom found connection in the kitchen, perfecting rich, gooey caramel treats that embodied her philosophy: food should make people feel loved. Today, Mama Row’s Caramel carries on that tradition with individually packaged cakes and brownies topped with the same signature caramel Hudson grew up making. Even the product names reflect his mother’s influence, inspired by her favorite sayings and the love she poured into every recipe.

The heart of Mama Row’s Caramel isn’t just in its sweets—it’s in its mission. “Showcasing our caramel desserts at the Washington State Fair catapulted our business, and now we’re proud to offer national shipping, as well as local deliveries and pickups in Seattle. Order online today to experience the love in every bite,” says Hudson.

Beyond growing the business, he remains committed to the values his mother instilled in him: education, generosity and community. In 2024, the company donated $500 worth of products to Seattle Public Schools, and Hudson actively volunteers in school programs. A former member of the district’s Parent Advisory Committee, he’s now set to join the Kingmakers program, a Seattle Public Schools initiative focused on mentorship and empowerment for Black male students.

This innovative, elevated food and drink experience is designed to bring people together in a fresh and exciting way, while continuing the Fair's legacy of delicious memories.

Scheduled to open this fall at the Washington State Fair, The 1900 Food Hall & Rooftop Bar will be a culinary destination like no other, featuring six unique restaurant concepts curated by James Beard-nominated chef Mitch Mayers. Guests can also savor the crispy, thick crust of Upper Crust's Detroit-style pizza or explore the trending, health-conscious offerings at Fat Panda, including steam buns, rice bowls and dumplings. Celebrating local flavors, The Pier will pay tribute to Northwest food culture with iconic dishes like chowder fries, salmon & chips and house-made Seattle dogs, while DOH! Sweets & Treats will satisfy sweet cravings with whimsical creations like carrot cake elephant ears and giant ice cream sandwiches.

Completing the experience, a multi-level Rooftop Bar will offer stunning views, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for guests to gather, relax and enjoy the lively ambiance. As The 1900 Food Hall & Rooftop Bar prepares to open its doors, it symbolizes a new era of dining at the Fair, blending timeless memories with innovative tastes and experiences.
