Decorated Frog Cake Leaps into the Winner’s Circle

 Puyallup, WA – Sept. 18, 2009 – Jumping into the lead of Puyallup Fair’s “Wilton Enterprises Amateur Decorated Cake Contest” is a frog-shaped banana pound cake. This eye-catching contest is held in the Home Arts Department at the Puyallup Fair, which runs through Sept. 27.

 Carly Fraga of Puyallup takes home the grand prize of $100 with her frog-shaped “Banana Pound Cake.” Tia Strasser of Buckley took home $50 for her basket-of-leaves-shaped “White Almond Wedding Cake.” Third place honors and $25 went to Karlyn Hoffmann of Vashon for her “Coffee & Doughnut Cake,” shaped as titled. The winning recipe is as follows:

“Banana Pound Cake”
Carly Fraga, Puyallup

1 box vanilla cake mix
4 eggs
½ cup oil
1 small box of instant banana pudding
1 ¼ cups water
2 mashed ripe bananas

1. Mix vanilla cake mix with eggs, oil, banana pudding mix, and water.
2. Add mashed bananas and mix all ingredients together.
3. Pour mix into a prepared baking pan.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until done.
