Crocheting, Knitting and Tatting Becomes a Contemporary Contest at the Puyallup Fair

Puyallup, WA – Sept. 2, 2009 – Ladies and gentleman, get your fingers limber for the Puyallup Fair’s Fastest Fingers in the West contest. Crocheters, tatters, and knitters will vie for the title on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The Puyallup Fair will run Sept. 11-27.

Contestants can enter up to 30 minutes prior to the competition, located in the Home Arts Department on the second floor of the Pavilion. The tatting contest begins 11 a.m., the knitting contest begins 1 p.m., and the crocheting contest begins 3 p.m. Judging will be based on the number of correct stitches created in 15 minutes. First Place receives $30, Second Place receives $20, and Third Place receives $10.

Up to 30 contestants per category (16 years or older) can compete for the title and cash prizes. To ensure each contestant is using equal equipment, Fastest Fingers sponsor Skacel Collection, Inc. will provide the four-ply knitting worsted, knitting needles, and crochet hook.
