The Champions of the Fastest Fingers in the West are Announced

 Puyallup, WA – Sept. 22, 2009 – The fastest three ladies in crocheting, knitting, and tatting walked away with top honors at the Puyallup Fair’s “Fastest Fingers in the West Contest.” The needles were drawn, and now the results are in from the Home Arts Department competition. The Puyallup Fair runs through Sept. 27.

 Ursula Bell of Kent took first place and $30 in the crocheting contest for the second year in a row. In second place was Karin Brown of Tacoma, winning $20. Coming in third place and winning $10 was Heather Drum.

 Ursula Bell’s skillful fingers also paid off in the knitting competition. She won the first place title for the second consecutive year. Right behind her was Susan Hartland of New Westminister, B.C. In third place was Kassy Kvam of Tacoma. The first place cash prize was $30, second place was $20, and third place was $10.

 The tatting contest was led by first place winner Sonja St. John of Auburn, followed by Katherine McCort of Marysville, and Yvonne Chisa of Spanaway coming in third. The first place cash prize was $30, second place was $20, and third place was $10.

The Home Arts Department is sponsored by CORE 4. All prizes were donated by Skacel Collection, Inc.

 The Puyallup Fair first started in 1900.
