Weekend Packed with Things to Do at 2009 Puyallup Fair

Puyallup, WA – Sept. 18, 2009 –  This weekend is packed with family-fun activities at the 2009 Puyallup Fair, from Friday night’s Monster Truck Showdown to meeting Johnathan and Scott Hillstrand of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” the popular Al’s Brain exhibit to Fiestas Patrias on Sunday. The Fair runs through Sept. 27th.

• Monster Truck Showdown – Friday, Sept. 18th at 7:30 p.m.
     o Pit Party prior to the event
     o Side-by-side racing, wheelie contests and you-be-the-judge freestyle
     o Monster truck rides for $5
     o Tickets at Ticketmaster - $22 adults, $18 students, $5 kids 3-5 years, first-come, first seated, gates at 6 p.m.

• Johnathan and Scott Hillstrand, of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch”
     o Meet and greets, autographs and photos, merchandise
     o Friday, 9/18 – Sunday, 9/20, noon – 9 p.m.
     o “Deadliest Dinner” on Saturday, 6:30 pm
               $35, includes Fair gate admission

• Fiestas Patrias – Sunday, Sept. 20th from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
     o Held in the grandstand arena
     o Mariachis and folkloric dancers
     o Top name Latino entertainment
     o Free upon gate admission

• Al’s Brain
     o Free with gate admission
     o A 3-D journey through the human brain
     o 10-minute movie featuring “Weird Al” Yankovic
     o Pacific Science Center’s Brain Power exhibit – with a human brain you can hold in your hands

• Goodwill Donation Station – Through Sunday in the Gold Parking Lot. Bring your gently used clothing and household items to this manned donation station.

Discount gate admission tickets are available at Safeway Stores and Columbia Bank. Gates open at 10 a.m. daily.  The Puyallup Fair is a Pacific Northwest tradition, and one of the top ten fairs in the world in attendance. Visit www.thefair.com.
