Puyallup Fair Kicks Off 17-Day Run Starting at 10 am Friday Morning
Gates Free on Opening Day from 10 a.m. – Noon – Recommend Food Bank Donation
Puyallup, WA – September 10, 2009 – The Puyallup Fair, the 8th largest fair in North America swings open its gates at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. Gates from 10 a.m. until noon are free on opening day only, Friday, Sept. 11, with a recommendation of bringing a non-perishable food item for FISH Food Bank. The Fair will run from Sept. 11 – 27, and traditionally draws 1.1 million guests. The event offers to be the BIG Fantastic.
A parade along Meridian Street in downtown Puyallup starts at 10 a.m. Many attendees then walk to the Fair to enjoy free gate admission until noon.
The Justin Boots Playoffs of the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour offers the top cowboys and cowgirls competing in rodeo competition Sept. 11, 12 and 13. The top 24 competitors in each event will vie to win a portion of the $540,000+ purse, the highest in the Pacific Northwest. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster.
Al’s Brain, a 12,000 s.f. traveling exhibit will be a free offering to guests. This exhibit is a brainchild of “Weird Al” Yankovic, and is both entertaining and educational. Hands-on activities are featured, plus a 500-seat Brainitorium featuring a 3-D movie showing “Weird Al” make it a treat for all ages. The Pacific Science Center’s Brain Power exhibit completes the entire exhibit.
A star-studded grandstand line-up offers great entertainment, ranging from Heart to James Taylor, Jason Aldean to Wynonna, and everything in between. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster or at www.thefair.com.

Gates open at 10 a.m., and buildings are open until 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The Puyallup Fair first started in 1900.
