Animal Exhibits

N.W. Jr Livestock Details:



FFA and 4-H members will show their hogs or steers at this annual event. Drop by and ask questions about the animals and learn about caring for farm animals located in Barn N and M. Each student will squeeze in time to groom their animals for blue ribbon honors, too. The auction is on Sunday, so make a point to catch this fast-moving event. Proceeds go towards 4-H and FFA projects.

For pre-entry and entry information contact: Ellen Schmitz, 253-927-2297. Animals must be tagged by the following dates: Steers: Nov. 10, 2011; Hogs: Jan 21 & 22, 2012; Lambs: Feb 1, 2012.

This new sport challenges dogs to dash down a specially built 40-foot canine runway and jump headlong into a large portable swimming pool filled with 27,000 gallons of water. The longest distance jump wins! Enjoy the spectacular abilities of these amazing dogs. To register, visit www.dockdogs.com. Contestants, please enter with your dog through the Blue Gate. Jr Poultry Exposition Details:



The objectives and purposes of the Washington Junior Poultry Exposition located in H Barn are to promote Washington state agriculture, economic growth, ecology, and education by providing an opportunity for the youth of Washington to feature and display for the public poultry-related projects developed by FFA, 4-H and open class exhibitors through club and individual efforts. Northwest Jr Rodeo Details:



From the littlest to the champion bull rider, these young contestants bring big hearts and the cowboy spirit. The NWJR kick-off event for 2012 will feature bareback riding,, bull riding, team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, goat tying, pole bending, dummy roping and more! Free with Fair admission, Friday - Sunday. Located in Paulhamus Arena, south end of the Fairgrounds.

Miniature Horses Details:



The Miniature Horse Breedlocated in Livestock Barn Complex M can trace its origins back as far as the Middle Ages, when they were popular as parlor pets for royalty. Today, Miniature Horses are used to drive, show (halter, jumping, obstacles), as therapy animals, and as pets. Miniature horses require about 1/3 the feed and housing of a full size horse, and with their quiet temperaments and small size, they are easily handled by children and elderly or handicapped adults.
