Table Setting Competition at the Puyallup Fair Sets High Standards

Puyallup, WA – Sept. 14, 2009 – The Puyallup Fair, which runs through Sept. 27, has a competition for almost everything, including how best to set a table. The Home Arts Department’s “Table Setting” contest allows creativity to flow onto the dinner table.

The Table Setting competition includes four categories. These include Spring Fling, Autumn Woods Picnic, Midsummer Night’s Dream Dinner, and Winter Wonderland Rendezvous. Each table is judged on eye appeal, originality, suitability for occasion, and handmade articles. The table must include a menu to match the theme.

The Grand Champion and recipient of a $100 gift certificate to Pacific Fabric & Crafts is Susan Reed of Puyallup with her Winter Wonderland Rendezvous table. Reserve Grand Champion is Ellen Mortensen of Shoreline with her Midsummer Night’s Dream Dinner table. All tables will be displayed until the final day of the Fair.
The Home Arts Department is sponsored by CORE 4.

The Puyallup Fair first started in 1900. This Pacific Northwest tradition is one of the top ten fairs in the world in attendance, and features big name entertainment, the PRCA Rodeo, rides, exhibits, food, flowers, and animals.
