Free gate admission for military community
Puyallup, WA - March 29, 2016 - Members of the military are important to the community. To honor them, the Washington State Spring Fair will host Military Appreciation Day on Friday, April 15, 2016. FREE gate admission will be offered to all active, reserve, and retired military and National Guard and their dependents, plus disabled veterans with valid military ID at any Spring Fair gate on Friday, April 15, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. The Washington State Spring Fair runs April 14-17, 2016.
Members of the military and their families find the Spring Fair to be a great way to create new memories and spend the day together. This year’s Spring Fair offers a new feature, TimberWorks Lumberjack Show with world renowned athletes competing in ax throwing, log rolling, cross cut sawing, hot sawing and chainsaw carving. The Swifty Swine Racing Pigs are always a big hit with military families, as well as KidZone and Tot Spot, two buildings dedicated to interacting with young children. DockDogs competition always draws big crowds. Of course, rides, food, and shopping galore make this a must-do adventure.
Military Appreciation Day is an annual event, with media partnerships made possible by Talk Radio 570 KVI and KOMO News 1000 and FM /97.7.
Motorsport Mayhem is an annual event at the Spring Fair. Monster Truck Rides are available for $7 on Thursday, 3-7 p.m., Friday from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday from noon – 4 p.m. The Monster Truck Show, a separate ticketed event, will be held on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., and two Slamfest Demolition Derbies. Saturday’s Slamfest at 7:30 p.m. features a truck and car demolition derby. While the 4 p.m. Sunday show will highlight a NEW boat bash. Advance tickets include Fair gate admission, and can be purchased online at www.thefair.com until April 14.
Discount gate tickets are available March 21 to April 17 at select South Sound locations: Safeway, Albertson’s, Fred Meyer and South Hill Mall for $7.50 (adults), and $6.50 (students 6-18 years).
Adult gate tickets are $10 at the gate, and Students (6-18 years) are $8 at the gate. Children five years and under are free. Parking is free in the Blue, Gold, Red and Purple lots. Advance reserved premium parking is available for $10 at www.thefair.com., or for $15 on the day of arrival. Hours are Thursday (4/14) from 2 – 10 pm; Friday and Saturday (4/15-4/16) 10 am – 10 pm; and Sunday (4/17) from 10 am – 8 pm. Visit www.thefair.com for updated activities and times.
The 2016 Washington State Spring Fair first started in 1990. Today it draws nearly 150,000 guests during its four-day run.
