Why a Traveling Farm?
Today, many children know woefully little about agriculture's role in their daily lives - where food comes from, what life on a farm is like, why it is important to have farms in our communities, etc.

Often, children and school districts do not have the financial means to obtain transportation to the Fair and are deprived of Traveling Farmthe opportunity to experience the live animals and the agriculture education available to others. Consequently, teachers have said how important it is to bring the Traveling Farm to their students.

About the Traveling Farm
A new, custom-built 48' semi offers a walk-through facility that features 14 museum-quality interactive exhibits to engage and educate young learners. Outside of the vehicle, children are able to interact with live farm animals, many for the first time. Experienced animal handlers teach the children about each animal they see, further enriching the child’s experience.

Educational components include:
  • Role of farming in everyday lives
  • Care of plants and animals
  • Identifying parts-to-the-whole
  • Tools of the farming trade
  • Farm-to-table illustrations
  • Where food really comes from
  • Creating their own imaginary farm
  • Making healthy food choices
Project Funding
Because the Traveling Farm will be offered to schools and community projects at no cost, the Foundation continues an ambitious fund-raising campaign to fund the operating costs of the project.
