Traveling Farm

Thank you for your interest in the Puyallup Fair Traveling Farm. We are in the process of redesigning the entire program, including the curriculum. For that reason, it has been put on hiatus (temporary hold) until a later date.

TRAVELING FARM UPDATE:
Many children know woefully little about agricultures' role in their daily lives - where food comes from, what life on a farm is like, why it is important to have farms in our communities, etc.

Often, children and school districts do not have the financial means to obtain transportation to the Fair and are deprived of the opportunity to experience the live animals and the agriculture education available to others. Consequently, teachers have said how important it is to bring the Traveling Farm to their students.

What's more electronic entertainment dominates the world of today's children and leaves less and less time to engage in real-life, hands-on, interactive learning experiences.

Project Proposal:
First, a new vehicle will be designed and outfitted to meet the needs of teachers, students, school districts and healthy/safe animal contact practices. The vehicle will offer a walk-through facility that can be parked in a school parking lot, or a nearby parking area, and will be of a size and caliber to withstand high usage by thousands of visitors over many years.
